i do, i do!!! well i like a good mixture of new, old, and weird stuff in my house. we have been in this house for 1 year-i can't believe it!!! i am slowly but surely filling it up with treasures. i picked up a few things in alpharetta, ga on our way back from dolly and i have purchased lots of my goodies from three sisters antiques in caledonia and riverhill antiques in columbus. check out what fabulous finds three sisters has to offer on facebook!!!!!

i know, i know, i might have fallen off the blog bandwagon for a little while but i promise to do better. so let's catch up, shall we?! april began with pilgrimage ball. my sweet boss, mr. john bean, was the king so i was invited to sit with royalty saturday night and attend a royalty brunch on sunday-both were fabulous!! the rest of april we were crazy busy with work, the loss of my best friend's precious father, easter, and beginning our 3rd wedding anniversary celebration. our actual anniversary was the 26th so jason sent me beautiful pink flowers but the real celebration took place in las vegas the first week of may-omg, i didn't want to come home. during our 4 day trip we saw ka by cirque du soleil, rented a convertible and cruised to the hoover dam, ate lunch in boulder city, partied at the playboy club, drank by the pool at the mgm (where we stayed), bought t-shirts from the pawn stars, picked up a beautiful david yurman ring for yours truly (happy anniversary to me!!), and most importantly-we renewed our vows at the little white chapel!! i couldn't have asked for a better trip or a more wonderful soulmate to spend it with:) we came home to work and weddings, parties, kate's law school graduation!, etc. and memorial day weekend i headed to augusta, ga to see my brother and his super sweet family. it was a very calm, relaxing, trip and just what i needed!
then my summer went to hell in a handbasket. my amazingly sweet papaw passed away on june 3 and took pieces of our hearts with him. my family is crazy close-like we all practically live on top of one another and losing him was like losing my parent. we were all beginning to come out of our depression when my mom almost died on father's day. she was on a ventilator off and on for 6 days and in the hospital a total of 18 days-10 of those in meridian. my days and nights ran together and i spent 10, 12, even 15 hours a day at her side. it was the scariest thing i have ever experienced and i praise GOD that she made it through and that i didn't have a nervous breakdown.
so july brought my mom coming home from the hospital, lots of birthdays, and suzy's couples baby shower at my house. i absolutely adore my friends and their spouses so it was no surprise that we had an amazing time celebrating with suzy and tyler even if the bottom did fall out an hour before the party began!
now it's august and guess what?!!! i saw dolly this past wednesday in alpharetta, ga!!!!!!!!!! i have been looking forward to this concert since march and she didn't disappoint. my mom was strong enough to go with me (thank you God!) and we had a fabulous trip. dolly looked gorgeous and she sang like an angel-i will always love her;)
so that's that-here we are, waiting for suzy to have baby robertson and counting down the days until our beach trip (70). have a fabulous weekend!!!

laura beth, my very sweet and super fabulous more-like-a-sister-but-technically-my-cousin, cousin turned 30 on march 29th so we threw her a fun surprise party!!! on friday, march 25th at the bartahatchie outback in columbus, about 40 people came to celebrate this very special day!! it was so much fun and i think she was a little surprised;) the amazing cake was made by taylor massey in new hope, ms. you can see her other creations here.

Bikram Yoga

i love it!!!!! everyone should try it:) bikram yoga is a 90 minute class done in a 100 degree room. sounds miserable, i know and i fought going for a long time but once i tried it i loved it! bliss yoga in downtown columbus offers a "hot" yoga class every saturday from 11-12:30. it's probably not as intense as a bikram class you would do in la or nyc, but for our town it's the only one offered and i think it's pretty fabulous. you can learn more about bikram yoga here: http://www.bikramyoga.com/

so i am obsessed with own as in oprah winfrey network. and after watching the behind the scenes of oprah's favorite things, i have decided to do my own list of favorite things.

1. pilates and or yoga-there have been many days that i have dreaded going to class but once i am there i am so thankful. pilates changed my life-i have learned to love my body the way it is, but i realize that there are always areas to strive to improve upon. 2. my christmas 2010 gift from mr. nicholson. the tassimo brewbot is a single-brew espresso machine, tea, coffee, latte and cappuccino maker. fabulous!!!!

3. to go with my 3 cups of coffee a day, the most amazing coffee-mate ever, fat free french vanilla. yum!
4. barefoot dreams youth cover-up. this brand is seriously amazing (sold at pizazz!), and i love the youth size because i am so short. i live in this thing.

5. i believe we all know my love relationship with totino's party pizza. yes i eat the entire thing-these aren't meant to be shared so don't ask;)6. skintimate cream shave in cashmere rain-a little more expensive than shaving cream but totally worth it. you don't even need lotion which is awesome for when you shave your legs before heading to hot yoga. lotioned up legs+100 degree yoga workout= slippery
7. go. to. kohls. right. now. i really hate to share my favorite store with others but i just can't help it. this place is heaven. so bethenny frankel does this closet ad for bluefly? i could totally do one for kohls.

8. single pearl bracelet. my friend emily gave this to me several years ago for my birthday/christmas present. i wear it every day-just so dainty and pretty.
9. pandora radio=if i have to sit at a desk, i might as well be listening to some fab tunes, right? lately my station has been adele, duffy, and christina perri. good easy listening.
10. last, but certainly not least, my uggs. i don't care if you think they are ugly or just a fad. i love my uggs because they keep my feet warm.

Breakfast for Dinner

i used to hate breakfast-like i would starve all morning just so i could wait to eat lunch food, and i never would have wanted to ruin my pm meal by replacing it with icky breakfast food. then i met mr. nicholson and things changed. he loves breakfast-not only in the morning when you're supposed to eat it but also for dinner. now i want breakfast for dinner like once a week. tonight we had scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits and ham-yummy!!! all courtesy of my husband the chef. to make it all the better, we ate dinner on our new dining room table!! i have been wanting one for a while, but we haven't been able to find one we loved for a price jason loved;) then i randomly found this little beauty friday afternoon and we hauled it home today-yay!!

it doesn't look like it in this pic, but the table is about 9 feet long and maybe 3 feet wide. the chairs are on loan from my dad but i am hoping to replace them with these parsons chairs in an ecru/khaki color soon.

what do you think? ideas/suggestions? and i've blogged 3 times in 2 days-FABULOUS!!!!!!

Online Ordering

i have never been an online orderer except for maybe books and dvds from amazon. i'm not sure why, i think i just like to be in the store touching and trying on merchandise. but last weekend it rained like crazy and my husband was working sooooooooooo i ordered a few things:) i loved coming home to boxes under my carport 2 days in a row!! and i was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the merchandise.

my new favorite website is tinyprints.com-um who knew this place existed?! so cute and they have lots of cards available for girls on a budget like yours truly-plus it only took about a week to receive my printed purchases.

2010 was one fabulous year, so i am so ready to see what 2011 has in store for us!!!
since my last post a lot has happened-we had a wonderful thanksgiving, some friends and i hosted a baby shower for mary beth at my new house, i turned 26, my cousin and i traveled to nashville to see garth brooks, we celebrated the birth of our lord, jason turned 34, and msu won the gator bowl!! but now it's january and that means no plans-ever! my planner looks so bare, but i am excited to be home over the next few weeks to recover from the crazy past few months i've had. here are some recent pics-happy new year!!! i hope it's FABULOUS:)

Workin' 9 to 5

as part of my birthday gift this year, my sweet hubby bought me 2 tickets to see 9 to 5 the musical at the orpheum in memphis. he couldn't go b/c of work and he kind of refused to go anyway so i asked my mom who decided that my sister would probably like to go as well. the 3 of us set off last sunday morning around 9 headed to memphis. we had brunch reservations at the majestic grille at 11:45 and it was amazing! the show started at 1:30 and omg, it was fabulous!!!! if you are an american idol fan, you may remember diana degarmo from season 3. she played doralee rhodes aka dolly parton and did an amazing job! she had the accent, the walk, everything perfectly down pat. dolly had a pre-taped opening (which i loved and might have teared up a little-i'm not ashamed) and a pre-taped closing of her singing 9 to 5. i bought a cute little (overpriced) shirt that is a perfect pilates top. thank you jason for a great day:)

after summer and rob had a beautiful wedding in new orleans and an ultra romantic honeymoon in italy, they came home and hosted a fun celebration at the farm! jason and i had the best time!! most of our friends came (lauren you were def. missed!) and it was just a laid back, good time. too bad jason had to be at work on sunday at 7 am and i had to leave at 9 to go to memphis:(
but we had a fabulous time while we were there!!

Beyond Blessed!!

ok i know it has been 50 million years since i updated our blog, but God has definitely had the nicholsons very busy!!! to begin, we bought our 1st home together! yay!!! it is located right between mine and jason's parents so that is perfect! the size of the house is just right for our starter home, and it has a huge yard-we love it!!! in the midst of buying the house/moving in, my aunt called from our church and asked if jason and i would be interested in teaching the preschool sunday school class this year-of course we said yes!! now i look forward to seeing those sweet babies every weekend:) after we moved in, i was offered a job with a fabulous company here in columbus, and i absolutely love it. shortly after i started my job, jason also received a job offer from a company here in columbus that he had been interviewing with. so . . . GOD is AWESOME! we have lots of answered prayers to be thankful for!!!! i promise i'll try to do better at updating the blog for the 2, maybe 3 people who read it;)

Summer's Getting Married!!

so that means parties & showers!!! last weekend we spent some qt with the bride-to-be at the alluvian hotel & spa in greenwood. it was FABULOUS!! we lounged in our robes, drank mimosas, ate some yummy cookies by the cookie mama, and got pampered from head to toe! we had a wonderful dinner at luscos that night & probably drove the people at the hotel crazy by staying up late in the lobby bar afterwards reminiscing & eating apples. overall, it was a great weekend spent with sweet friends. best wishes summer-i love you very much!!

Settling In

so i am slowly but surely beginning to settle into my new job. i really, really like it but i won't lie & say that i don't miss my old job some, if not most days. but life is about branching out, learning new things, & growing up. i feel like a lot of that has been going on lately. i am learning to balance working to save for our future & stopping long enough to appreciate the present. we as a couple are working on getting back into church & growing in our relationship with God. i am trying to stop complaining about all of the things that i want ie a house & be grateful for the blessings i have ie a roof over my head, a loving husband, food, a JOB, a generous family, & amazing friends who love me no matter what happens or where i live;) life is sooooooooo good-i just need to remind myself of that sometimes!

in other happy news, congratulations to one of my oldest, very best friends, mary beth ketchum on expecting her 1st baby in february!! i was honored to be a part of mary beth & michael's wedding in july 2007 & they truly are a perfect pair & will be the absolute best parents. i can't wait to spoil little baby ketchum!!!!! also, happy belated 16th birthday to my baby sister, ali mara!

i have the sweetest, most dramatic, craziest, coolest, most amazing group of friends ever. i mean when 9 girls can be together non-stop for 5 days & still absolutely adore one another you know you have found you're true girlfriends!! as samantha says, "We made a deal ages ago. Men, babies, doesn't matter. We are soul mates." i think that is so true!! i would die without my girls-i am so spoiled b/c i always have someone to run errands with or eat sushi with!! so ladies, here's to our immature past, our wonderful present, and our super fabulous future!!!!! i love you all sooooo much!!!!!

so all 2 maybe 3 of you who read my blog might be wondering where in the world we've been hiding. the last couple of months have been filled with highs, lows, and a little vacation time-so here it goes. may kicked off with the previously mentioned wedding of florence & mark-so. much. fun!! then came market street festival which i am a total sucker for. i love artsy fartsy (as my mother would refer to it) things & the real reason i go is for the funnel cakes. i know, i know, they are fried & topped with loads of sugar which equals calories, calories but you only live once & street fairs with funnel cakes don't just happen every day. unfortunately, this was not my year for the funnel cake-it just never worked out with my group but no hard feelings-maybe next year:) then came the dreaded foot surgery. what i thought was going to be a minor, get-over-it-by-monday, kind of thing turned into a week with crutches and a month with a bandaged foot & a limp. so no river, pool, sand, NOTHING for a month-what? oh & one very important event occurred memorial day weekend, summer & rob got engaged!! i am so excited for y'all!!! anyways, in the midst of this, a new job opportunity floated my way. after many sleepless nights i decided to take the job, & i begin my full time duties july 1st. but have no fear, i will still be helping out some saturdays at my current occupation. then came beach trip numero uno. it was a much needed trip emotionally & physically & it was absolutely beautiful!!!!! no oil, no rain, just gorgeous sunshine & fabulous seafood. keep in mind-i can't put my foot in the water, sand, or pool so i looked like a total tool with my socks and new balances on the beach! obviously i wore them proudly & spent a lot of time under the umbrella. how can anyone sulk at the beach?! the day after i got home, jason's uncle passed away. we are very close to them so this has been a hard week for everyone. friday night, 2 of my favorite friends were home visiting so i stopped in at the burks' house for dinner with mary beth & then headed to huck's place to see kari ann. now i'm at home, unpacking & repacking for beach trip numero dos next week with 10 of my closest gal pals:) have a fabulous week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Heart Weddings

i seriously love weddings. i mean, what's not to love?! weddings (usually) include at least some of the following fabulous things: a beautiful wedding gown, tears of joy, hunky groomsmen/pretty bridesmaids, good food, great band, CAKE, laughter, dancing, and some form of alcoholic beverages. well, last weekend's wedding didn't disappoint! the wedding ceremony & reception of florence and mark was sweet and so much fun!! congrats!!!!have a FABULOUS marketstreet festival weekend!!!!!!

jason and i went to nashville a few weeks ago for a fabric convention. one of my favorites, abigail, lives in franklin, so while jason was busy working we played. the convention president arranged for all of us to have a private tour of the country music hall of fame one night and then a sit down dinner. while the dessert was being served, 3 country singer/songwriters came out and sang to us. julie roberts was one of the singers-remember "break down here" in 2004? she was gorgeous and super sweet. on friday we had lunch at the loveless cafe, home of the famous biscuit lady who passed away recently. it was amazingly good!!! i was full for days! here are some pics from our trip:)

An Interesting Saturday

last weekend was one of the best and worst weekends ever. first of all my bff kate came home from oxford for the weekend (and we all know how i adore my kateth) then some of my friends came over around lunchtime on saturday and we caught some rays in the back yard, went mud riding through the fields, and had a few cocktails. everyone was having a blast and preparing to grill out some burgers when my sweet husband caught himself on fire. it was so scary. thank you Jesus that jason is ok-he immediately went to the er and was diagnosed with 1st and 2nd degree burns but NO 3rd degree burns. now that he has survived, he is totally milking this whole "burn victim" thing to death. i'll deal with it b/c i am just so very thankful that he is alive and will make a full recovery with no scarring. here are some of my favorite pics from our crazy weekend.

my very good friend and cousin, kari ann garriga, is moving to denver:( so sad but i know she is excited so i will be excited for her. my friend group loves any excuse to get together and eat (and possibly drink excessively) so we had brunch last sunday at the back door in columbus to bid farewell. nine girlfriends who don't get to see each other all that often=people around us rolling their eyes and hating us. we giggled and took pictures and drank lots of mimosas. God has richly blessed me with fabulous friends, and i try to thank Him everyday for each one of them!!
we will miss you sooooo much!!!! i hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend!!!!

i'm totally glued to the oscars-the dresses are to die for. did anyone watch the pre-show? call me crazy but i think kathy ireland might be pregnant or just wearing a really, really too tight dress. i hope sandy wins (that's sandra bullock). i've loved her since speed, and the blind side might possibly be my new favorite movie. how funny are steve martin and alec baldwin?!! the whole meryl streep threesome thing-priceless!!
i saw alice in wonderland today-soooo good!! it was funny and cool and creative and everything i thought it would be. i went with several family members, aging from 2 to 60, and we all loved it!! what i didn't love was the $9 price tag that went along with those glasses. oh well, it was my first 3D experience.

New Look!

so my blog has looked like crapola since i started it-i could never find cute backgrounds and i really never took the time to look. but, my friends, that has all changed-do you like my new and improved blog?!! the background is called "loving lindsey" so i just had to pick it!
not too much to update everyone on. just working at pizazz! (btw we have gotten in lots of cute spring stuff!) and teaching my fitness classes. a group of us girls are heading to decatur, al next weekend to see bailey-i can't wait to see her new house!! i'm sure i will have lots of pics:) this weekend i have zero plans and that is just the way i like it!! i am going to enjoy some quality time at home with my girls aka shugar & dolly. i might make it to see alice in wonderland which i am very excited about!!! i hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend!!!!!

John Mayer

i had a little "date" with one of my best friends tuesday night! lauren sent me a text back before thanksgiving asking me if i would be interested in seeing john mayer with her in birmingham in february. now i'm not really a j.m. fan but i thought this will be a fun night with one of my favorite people so i said sure. i left work tuesday around 3:30, and we headed to b-ham. we had a fabulous sushi dinner at a cute little place in 5 points before going over to the bjcc. we arrived and got seated just in time for the opening act, michael franti & spearhead, to begin. we had so much fun!! i must admit that i am now a total john fan (except i don't love the vulgar comments he made to playboy magazine). he is an AMAZING guitarist! i finally got home around 2:15 am-those of you who know me know that i am always in bed around 9 or 9:30!!! here are a few pics from our lovely evening:)have a FABULOUS weekend!!!!!

wow-it has been FOREVER since i updated the blog. so what's new with us?? well i spent a week in atlanta in january for market. it iced and snowed and the wind chill was -4. we froze but we found some really cute stuff for the store:) i got back just in time to teach my very first spin class. i was so beyond nervous. i have now taught 4 spin classes and feel like i am finally getting the hang of it. still doing the 3 pilates classes and 1 abs class a week-i like to stay busy. speaking of working out, after losing close to 15 pounds someone asked me if i was pregnant!! really??!! i am by no means tiny but come on people!! just b/c i like mi toro and ice cream sandwiches doesn't mean i'm prego-maybe i'm just starving!! moving on. i had sushi with the girls for summer's bday one night-so. much. fun. i adore my friends!! last weekend i headed to memphis in the million inches of ice with my mom, her 2 sisters, and my cousin laura to see jersey boys. we had a fabulous dinner at the majestic grille before the show. let my just take a minute to say how much i love broadway shows-this was my second time to see jersey boys in the last 6 months & i would totally go again tomorrow if i could afford it! anyways, we danced on beale street afterwards and finally made it to bed around 3:30-i have no pics b/c i forgot my camera. i don't want to talk about it. becky-i am still sad you missed out on our "after party"!! my family is super crazy but i am so thankful to have them-it was such a fun girls weekend!!!! well, that pretty much wraps up our january. coming up next: kate is coming home this weekend & john mayer in birmingham tuesday night with lou!!!!!

not only did sweet suzy let us sit with them at the egg bowl (& the seats were fabulous!) WE WON!! what a wonderful christmas gift-the golden egg!! that was one of the most exciting games i have ever attended. the weather was absolutely perfect, & the seniors really went out with a bang! i am not going to bad mouth ole miss because i feel like both teams played really hard AND i refuse to stoop to their level. i can't wait to see what msu's football program has in store for the future!!

the wedding was FABULOUS!!! of course i didn't expect anything less! the ceremony was so sweet & short considering it was a catholic wedding. nobody fainted or cried uncontrollably. then on to the reception where jason and i had so much fun that it is 1:00 and we are still in our pjs. the night was full of lots and lots of dancing, talking, food, cake, laughter, and a little champagne;) here is a little evidence of my fun-filled day/night.

one that is becoming increasingly harder for me to learn. i am so very thankful for my abundance of blessings from above, but currently this dance is impossible. i am stressed-i hate to be stressed. i am a happy person and would very much like to stay that way. there is just so much going on with so many people around me, and the economy sucks which stresses out my husband who, in turn, stresses me out! but enough about how bad life can suck sometimes-today jason and i took the girls to starkville to have our christmas card pictures taken. the fabulous lauren springer was our photographer, and i think they are going to turn out great! the weather could not have been more beautiful! shugar was very cooperative and of course dolly refused to look at the camera or lauren. now i am off to a baby shower honoring the lovely mrs. tina gatewood. i hope everyone has a fabulous week!!!

yes i graduated from msu but i went to alabama for a year first-before i met jason & moved home to be closer to him; ridiculous i know but hey it worked;) i don't think you can go to bama and not completely love their football team. the fans are insane, the stadium is packed and full of energy, & then they play that video and it brings tears to your eyes and butterflies to your stomach. i am first and foremost a state fan b/c i have loved them since mary beth started taking me to games when i was in elementary school but who doesn't love following a winning team?! when i was at bama, they were terrible-like they only won maybe 2 games-so it has been fun to see the team grow over the last 6 years. besides my teams, i just love watching a good sec football game. i am a total guy when it comes to football-i made my sweet husband watch the florida/lsu game last night. how about that tim tebow?!! have a fabulous week!!!

What's Wrong with Takeout?!!

i decided a few days ago that since i was going to be home all alone all day today (jason worked from 7 to 5:30) that i would teach myself to cook. now you are probably asking yourself why on earth would a girl whose husband cooks for her all of the time want to learn to cook? b/c i need to learn to be domestic, and my girlish figure cannot keep living off of totino's frozen pizzas. (i think they seriously have like 44 grams of fat per pizza & i do eat a whole one by myself-combination is the best if you're interested;) jason likes to cook and is really great at it, but what am i going to do when we have kids one day (a very long time from now). summer asked me the other day, "don't you have a go-to recipe?" and i replied, "yes, it is a jar of pepper jelly over cream cheese." seriously? so i asked my mom for her chili and chicken spaghetti recipes. her response was, "why don't i just make it for you-that will be so much easier." see, even my family thinks it's a lost cause. anyways i headed to wally world around noon today and bought $50 worth of meat, canned stuff, and some really cute pumpkin shaped sugar cookies:) my point to all of this is that i still hate to cook-i don't know how people do it everyday b/c i am exhausted right now! i was in the kitchen for what felt like 24 hours and dirtied every pot, pan, and utensil we have (did i mention we do NOT have a dishwasher??!!!) jason actually loved the chicken spaghetti, and i did freeze half of it for later. but isn't it just as easy to get takeout? i hate to break it to my unborn children, but if left up to me, they will live off of cereal, totino's pizzas, and mi toro.

sooooo who is as excited as i am that fall is here?!!! yay!! the pumpkin patch around the corner from our house is now open and we are planning on taking the girls (shugar & dolly) there this weekend:) anyways, i just thought i would update everyone on our life lately. besides being here and there and everywhere for the last several weekends, we have both been busy with work. as of the week of labor day, i am teaching 4 pilates classes a week, 1 on monday nights at the w gym and 3 (tuesday/thursday morning and thursday nights) at the caledonia ymca. i would love to have any of y'all at my classes!! jason is hoping the ground is going to dry up enough for him to work some this weekend. all of this work is for a great reason-our house plans are finished:) it is one beautiful house if i do say so myself! hopefully we will begin building in the spring/early summer of next year, so we are in total saving mode.
on top of all of this, all of my favorite shows are back! i am a total house, grey's anatomy, desperate housewives, brothers & sisters, and i hate to admit it, hills junkie. have a fabulous weekend!!!

so last weekend (friday at 4 am to be exact) we headed to florida to have one last fling before the ring for suzy. we had too much fun! the weather was gorgeous and the water was perfect-well almost-it did have some seaweed. friday night we had dinner at the red bar-omg best crab cakes EVER!! i do love me some seafood. saturday night we had a lingerie shower at the condo and then ate at suzy's favorite restaurant, borago. it is italian seafood and very good! afterwards we headed to rum runner's, along with a million other bachelorette parties. but that made it even more fun! i think suzy had a grand ole time which was great! a long, tiring, but ultimately fabulous weekend! i only took a few pics, but i will post what i have later!

jason and i spent labor day weekend with my brother and his family in orangeburg, sc. this is about 45 minutes from columbia and about an hour from charleston. (i am having some technical difficulties with my computer so i will just use generic pics from google images for now) friday night we played with the kids and jason & my brother played the wii until their hands were numb. saturday jason and i spent the day in charleston. the weather was absolutely gorgeous! we spent the entire day walking all over the city. there were tons of cute shops on king street, and a fabulous farmer's market at a local park. we had lunch at poogan's porch, saw all of the multicolored houses on rainbow row, strolled around battery park, and ended at the charleston market. we then headed across the bridge to patriot's point, home to the uss yorktown, an aircraft carrier that played a major role in WWII. the ship was huge, and it took us an hour to see maybe half of it.
sunday we attended church with my brother and spent a leisurely afternoon napping and playing. the drive was soooo long (about 8 hours) but well worth it. i would definitely recommend visiting charleston-i can't wait to go back and see more of it! have a fabulous week!!!

Days 3-5

so i am finally going to finish telling you all about nyc! day 3 as i mentioned in my last post was a FULL day at market, but lots of fun. one of our reps recommended cafe luxembourg for dinner so we went and it was wonderful! monday morning was GMA day. that's right-i convinced patti to wake up at 5:30 and go across the street to the gma studio and stand in line for 2 hours to see diane sawyer! she wasn't too happy about all of this in the beginning, but by the end she was very glad we did it. i held up a little sign that read "hello caledonia" (i couldn't choose one person so i thought this was a good alternative) and patti's sign said "hey bailey". anyways we saw tom bergeron who was on that day to announce the new season of dwts, and the surprise guest was donny osmond! they were both very sweet and came by to say hello and shake hands. bailey and sage saw us several times and someone told me they remembered seeing my little sign. after all of that excitement, we got ready to head to the permanent showrooms on madison avenue. we felt like real new yorkers when we bought our lunches from a hot dog vendor on the street. $3 for a drink & a hot dog=cheapest meal ever in this city! we found an empty bench at a park across the street to enjoy our cheap lunches. we walked a little more that afternoon, and ended the day with dinner at butter. very cool-upstairs is restaurant, downstairs is very chic nightclub. then it was back to the hotel for bed. tuesday was going back home day:( we took one last stroll through times square, had lunch, and headed to the airport.
all in all, it was one fabulous trip!!!

Day 2

we woke up bright and early and totally rejuvenated saturday morning. after hitting up starbucks we caught the shuttle headed to day 1 of the new york international gift fair. we found some cute things and finished up around noon. a friend had suggested we try a restaurant in greenwich village called august. they were only serving brunch, and it was wonderful! afterwards we ran into a another southerner who recommended we try the magnolia bakery for dessert. apparently it was in sex and the city? so we stood in line and bought our cupcakes.
we went to ground zero and sat in the courtyard of the beautiful church that survived 9/11 and had our fabulous famous cupcakes. we checked out wall street, china town, and ended up having dinner on the busy streets of little italy.
after all of that, we called it a day to rest up for day 3 which ended up being a LONG day at market. but that was kind of the reason we went:)

let me just say how absolutely fabulous new york city is!! our trip totally exceeded my expectations-i'll start with day 1.

we woke up at 4 to leave the hotel by 5. breakfast at airport & then our flight (which was actually on time!) left at 6:30. pretty easy flight-only about 2 hours. i finished reading Dewey halfway through the flight (and we all know what inevitably happens in animal stories) so i started crying and assured patti that it was the book causing my distress and not my insane fear of flying. anyways we landed at laguardia on time and then sat in the plane on the runway for oh i'd say 30 or 45 minutes-welcome to new york! our bags arrived and we hopped in a yellow taxi bound for millennium broadway hotel. after the longest cab ride ever, we were there! i couldn't believe it was real-i was actually in a city i have dreamed of visiting my whole life. so we left our bags and walked and walked and walked some more! we strolled through times square past the naked cowboy, we had

fabulous sushi at sushi of gari, we walked through saks, bergdorf, and tiffany's, we took self guided tours through the plaza hotel, trump tower, & numerous churches, we saw nbc studios and rockefeller plaza (i do love the today show-i have been a huge meredith fan since she was on the view!) and finally decided to head back to get ready for jersey boys. which by the way we both loved! considering how incredibly tired we were, they did an excellent job of keeping our eyes open. it was so funny, and the music was incredible.

i haven't blogged much lately b/c my entire life has revolved around this trip! we are leaving after work today to spend the night in birmingham, and our flight leaves at 6:30 in the morning. i'll be strolling the streets of nyc by noon tomorrow! i'm really nervous about the flight-i hate flying, but i love to travel so i just do it anyway. one time i flew to north carolina by myself to see my brother and i cried the entire way. oh well-jason says if i made it all the way to greece and back without a meltdown i should be fine for this short 2 1/2 hour flight. i'm just praying for God to give me strength b/c there's no turning back now! we are going to see jersey boys tomorrow night-i am excited b/c i have heard great reviews.

so i've totally been on a reading kick this summer. it only took 24 years for me to love reading. jodi picoult is my new favorite-i know everyone else has known how fabulous she is forever but like i said, i'm new at this! i read my sister's keeper earlier this year and it has to be one of my all time favorites. i finished change of heart by her a few weeks ago-great page turner but not the best. i am currently reading plain truth (thanks lauren!!) and i am loving it!! in between i read the time traveler's wife. it is long and was kind of slow for me in the beginning but by the end i was absolutely loving it-i can't wait to see what they do for the movie!

besides keeping my nose in a book, i have had a little bit of a life lately. last weekend jason and i went to kathi bean's surprise 50th birthday party. so much fun and of course the food was fantastic!

last night we went with laura, tony and the boys to the japanese steakhouse/sushi bar in starkville. we waited for over an hour to be seated (which is no fun with a 2 year old) but once we went inside it was well worth the wait. the food was soooo good, and there was tons of it. the boys thought the chef was so cool-it was worth going just to see the looks of their faces!

ok seriously almost every member of the vernon family was born in july. last saturday night we went to laura and tony's for sweet jack hudson's 2nd birthday party. he is so cute it's ridiculous. it was a backyardigans party and a perfect night for a cookout. so cool i almost needed a little sweater. (i realize this doesn't surprise anyone reading this who knows me-i am always cold!) monday night was tony's surprise 30th birthday party at bartahatchie outback. i think he was genuinely surprised, and i was glad we were there to help him celebrate. today is jay's 8th birthday-oh where does the time go?!! he was just a baby! anyways his birthday party is tomorrow night. i promise i will post pics of all of these special events soon! have a fabulous day!!

Back in the swing of things

so i'm back-atlanta was so much fun! bailey flew in from d.c. to spend a few days with us and i was so happy to see her. market is a lot of work but very fun. we found some new cool stuff so keep checking in at Pizazz! for new arrivals! while we were gone our computer at work crashed-completely dead. we didn't have a cash register for a week. this is was great to come home to-but after a million phone calls to tech support it is all fixed now. also, patti and i broke down in oxford, alabama sunday morning on our way home and had to be towed to birmingham where dr. griffin met us and picked us up. there is never a dull moment with this lady!!
remember my post about getting my old bike out? well it's way too rusted and the wheels are rotten so jason and i headed to wally world last night and bought a new one. it is pink and fabulous!! and i am still doing the wii fit-it was not very happy when i didn't work out the whole time i was in atlanta-when i got back and turned it on it said "do you know that you haven't worked out in 8 days?! it has a bit of an attititude.

for independence day this year jason and i headed to memphis to see Wicked. absolutely fabulous!! the singing was great, it was funny, and we both loved it. (yes-i even heard jason laughing occasionally but i am positive he would never admit that he liked it!) after the show, we headed to silkeys on beale street for some nachos, beer, and live music. it was so nice to spend some quality time with my honey before i leave for atlanta. we ended the night with dinner at pig on beale. today i've been cleaning and packing, so this is probably my last post until i return home next sunday night. i do have some pics that i'll try to post later.
one other thing-my sister and my mom were in a wreck on friday in tupelo. they are ok, but my sister ended up spending her 15th b-day in the er and they both have whiplash and lots of neck/back pain. we just thank God there were no major injuries, except my mother's old and now busted suburban. please keep them in your thoughts and prayers:)

i'm leaving in 6 weeks for nyc!!!! i am like a kid on christmas morning. nyc is the one place i have been dying to visit my whole life. growing up my parents never wanted to go-we always went somewhere that had a beach (thanks to pam, the beach bum). then after jason and i got back from greece last year we said that our next big trip before starting on the house would be new york. well jason cancelled my trip when i added some extra square feet to the house and i would like to say that i handled it well but i'd be lying. i was devastated-i'm pretty sure i told jason that he was mean and that i loved him but i sure didn't like him very much at that moment. but GOD is GREAT and found a way for me to go!!! patti and i are going for market which is just fabulous! so i'm going to have to brag and say that i'm pretty sure i have the best job and the coolest boss ever:) have a fabulous week!!!

so jason brought home a wii fit yesterday from wal-mart and i LOVE it!! i've been begging for one for months and he finally caved. we decided to terminate our gym membership and save that $55 a month for other things. we went and got my old bike from my parent's house last night so hopefully between the bike and the wii i can continue my "lifestyle change"!

so we just wrapped up a fun filled week of bible school at kolola springs baptist church. i was the assistant teacher for the kindergarten class-11 kids total. they were so good and sweet and fun! i am a little tired today though!! the motto for the week was: Follow! Worship! Live Through Him! we had a great time learning all about the wonderful things God does for us, and i realized i don't thank Him nearly enough for all of my wonderful blessings!

one person i am certainly very thankful for is my sweet hubby:) we went to see Transformers 2 last night-funny, good special effects, but in my opinion a little too long. before dinner we ate at this new bar-b-que place across from cross golf carts on hwy 45. it is called hank's #1 bar-b-que and it was great! they have won lots of awards for the food and i can definitely see why. next weekend jason and i will be at the home of great bar-b-que. he surprised me with 2 tickets to see wicked next saturday afternoon at the orpheum in memphis and we are going to hit up beale street for dinner and drinks afterwards.

ok so i've been neglecting the blog lately. i hate it when people don't update their blog b/c i am a blog stalker! anyways, so the last few weeks have been crazy and fun. they wrapped up filming at my mom's house so i went after work one day and watched for a while. you know how obsessed jason and i are with 24? well the woman who wrote and is starring in the movie played patty(pres. palmer's assistant) in the first season of 24! small world.
in husband news, jason drove to arkansas the morning of bailey's wedding and bought a bright orange kubota tractor. he is so happy on that thing! don't worry-he made it back in time for the wedding. if he hadn't there would be major trouble in paradise.
moving on to the wedding-SO much fun!! beautiful bride, fabulous band, amazing chocolate cake & crazy, drunken friends. i promise to post pics when i figure out how to transfer from my new pink camera (it finally came in!) to the computer. what a sweet, happy couple!! congrats bailey and sage!!!
next week is bible school at ksbc. i can't wait-growing up i absolutely loved bible school and i have the best memories of it! tonight is sushi with the girls-yay!! oh and my dear friend emily found out this morning she is having a baby boy- evan gabe castle.

It has been a little while since my last post but there hasn't been too much happening here. I mean when you live this close to your relatives (mine and Jason's), there is always some kind of drama, but nothing too blog worthy. Well, except that my mom was body slammed by her pony a few weeks ago and now has a broken collarbone. Anyways she is now on the mend and some people are coming to her house next week to film a movie. Last weekend I was so happy that the sun came out long enough for us to go to the river with Collins. (I don't have any pics b/c Jason broke my camera and ordered me a new one that got lost by Fedex-so hopefully I will get it soon!!) Collins and Jason have been friends forever and were each other's best man. We love him and his wife, Kim, and we are so grateful that they always let us hang out on their boat:) We had another meeting with Penny about the house plans and I am SO excited! I have really been surprised that Jason and I have been agreeing on almost everything. I know we aren't starting until next year, but I can hardly wait! Now that all of my shows have concluded for the summer months, we are watching seasons of 24. Jack Bauer is absolutely amazing, and I will admit that I am in love with him. We just completed season 2 and planning to start season 3 tonight! Oh and if you haven't seen the movie Taken you should rent it. Have a Fabulous Weekend!!!

A great week in review: Tuesday night was bunco-I didn't win anything but it doesn't matter because I had so much fun and I love hanging out with Sarah, Mary Lynn and their friends! Wednesday night I had sushi with Summer and Patsy. I love sushi. and if I was made of money I would eat it all of the time. Thursday night was the season finale of Grey's Anatomy, and it was soooo good!
Jason convinced me to go see Star Trek Friday night and I loved it!! We've never been "trekkies", and I was kind of worried since I have never seen one episode but surprisingly it was really funny and full of hot guys!
Yesterday was Kate and Jed's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, and they are just the sweetest couple:) Afterwards Summer, Becca, Kari Ann and I met at Zachary's for a drink. It was so good to see my Jackson girls!!!
Today my entire family met at my grandmother's for some homemade chocolate pound cake, ice cream, and coffee to celebrate my mom's birthday. I am currently watching the season finale of Desperate Housewives and wondering how Global Warming has led to it being 47 degrees in May?? Have a Fabulous Week!!

This was the slogan of the weekend which I am certain we said 1000 times too many!! Friday night Jason and I attended a fabulous little get together at Tori and Summer's apartment. Great food, great friends, great alcoholic beverages-a good time was had by all. Thanks to the hostesses for doing such a great job!! We retired early so we would be ready for Saturday's festivities. Jason ended up working all day so around 2:00 I headed to Market Street. Kari Ann (who came up with this weekend's slogan) and I walked around and looked at all of the cute stuff the vendors had to offer. We eventually headed to Zachary's for dinner where we met up with the Dursts, Peter, Becca, Lauren and Tori. We preceded to quote Sling Blade for about 30 minutes and drove everyone around us crazy! "I like biscuits and mustard, uh huh!" I don't think this is an actual quote from the movie-we might have improvised a little:) After hours of bar hopping (including a very fun couple of hours with the Jones family!) and running around downtown in torrential rains, I decided to call it a night. When Jason angrily awoke at 1:15 am to me coming in I shrugged my shoulders and stated, "Jason-sorry for partying!!!"

One Year & Counting

This time last year Jason and I were exchanging vows and enjoying spending some time with our family and friends at the beach.Who knew time would fly by so fast!! It has been a year full of ups and downs, but there is no other person in this world I would have rather spent it with!

So for our anniversary Jason took me on a little vacation to the mountains in Mentone, Al. It was such a cute little town, and the scenery was gorgeous! We stayed in a cabin on a lake high up on Lookout Mountain. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway!! We visited Seqouyah Caverns, Desoto Falls, and Desoto State Park.

So we went to Atlanta this past weekend for Bailey's Bridesmaid Luncheon and Bachelorette festivities. We had an absolute blast-I am waiting on Springer for the pics b/c my camera is broken:( Friday night we had dinner at Portofino before heading out to a cool little pool bar. I had so much fun (and a Saturday morning headache to prove it)!! It was great getting to know Bailey's college roomates, Mary and Caroline, Sage's sister, Katie, and Bailey's precious cousin, Allison. Saturday was the luncheon at Mrs. Karen McClure's awesome Midtown apartment, and then on to get manicures and pedicures before the lingerie shower that night. A fun weekend in honor of a very sweet and fun girl. I can't wait to see all of these lovely ladies again on June 13th!
In other news, mine and Jason's one year anniversary is this Sunday. I really cannot believe it has been a whole year!! We are leaving Thursday for Mentone, Alabama for a romantic little weekend getaway. I hope everyone is having a Fabulous week!!!

This is week has turned out to be pretty decent considering how it started out. My brother, his wife, and 2 sweet kids came home yesterday and will be here until Monday!! Wow! They never stay longer than 2 days and they haven't been to Caledonia since December '07! Yesterday was Chuck's 60th Birthday so we cooked out at my mom's last night and it was great! My grandfather was in ICU at the beginning of the week and now we think he is coming home today so more good news:) And to top it all off Jason and I got our first look at our new house! Penny had a floor plan and front elevation sketched for us to look at and approve before she puts it on the computer. I can't believe the time has finally come for us to build our dream house! This has been a long time coming! So I'm off to work at Pizazz! (come check out our cute grad. gifts!!) and then sushi tonight with one of my absolute favs Tori! Busy and Fun Weekend!

So Friday night after work I headed to Tori and Summer's new apartment and I have to say that is just fabulous! It has so much character, and I am so jealous of how cute it is! I left there and headed to the Bartahatchie Outback in Brickerton for Laura's birthday dinner. Her birthday is today so Happy Birthday Laura Beth!! We stayed with Jason's parents Friday night because of the bad weather and you know it's not cool to be in the trailer fabulous during a tornado. After working all day Saturday I ran home and changed clothes to go to Heritage's LAI Social Club Presentation. My sister is a freshman so she was a little sister. It was super quick-like 30 minutes. Kari Ann and Becca were in town and the new bar at DC Music (it's called something else I'm just not sure how to spell it) just opened so I decided to go out and have a little fun. The bar was great-tall ceilings, old brick walls, and great music! Jason missed all of the fun at the bar because he is obsessed with his new Xbox 360-men never grow up!! So all in all a fun but very busy and tiresome weekend-I stayed in the bed until 2:30 today! Also, I just found out that one of my best friend's is pregnant-Congratulations Emily!! I am so excited for you and John!!!

Another stellar performance by Anne Hathaway-that Oscar nomination was very well deserved. The movie is weird, don't get me wrong, but also very cool. Jason hated it (big surprise) but I loved it and even cried a little.

In other news, we are starting on our house plans next week and it is going to be a LONG process. Being that Jason is a man he thinks that I am ridiculous and want to spend too much money-if I left it up to him we would live in a big metal building with no windows. So keep us and our marriage in your thoughts & prayers!

One last thing-Congratulations to my DZ friend Laura for getting engaged!!! Yay!! I am so happy for you!!!

One Fun Weekend!

What a fantastic weekend!! Friday night was so yucky so Jason and I had planned to stay in and just relax. He surprised me with Mario Kart for our Wii so we had dinner and played all night long!! Saturday we cooked for the stock the bar party that Lauren, Suzy, Hope, Kate, Summer and I threw for Bailey and Sage. While we were cooking Kate, Tori and Jason's friend Daniel came over to supervise. We drank, cooked, and of course played Mario Kart until it was time to get ready for the party. The party was absolutely fabulous, and thanks so much to Suzy's parents for letting us borrow their house!! Afterwards we all went to Zachary's to continue the party. Needless to say I have been paying for yesterday and last night's fun all day today!! I know I say this all of the time, but I love my husband, friends, and family!! I am so blessed!!

So I have been a not-so-great blogger lately. Here's the rundown on what's been going on. Jason and I decided to get our sweet pups Dolly and Shugar fixed 2 weeks ago. Dolly's surgery went very well. The next day we took Shugar and we knew that since she is an English Bulldog there would be a risk. Well her blood pressure dropped after surgery and the vet had to cut open both of her front legs to find a vein to start an IV. Jason sat up with her in the clinic all night. She looked pitiful!! She was able to come home early the next day, but we had to watch her very carefully. We took turns staying home with her over the next 4 days. Thankfully they both got their stitches removed yesterday and all is well. It was one of the scariest times in my life, but God is good and answers prayers!! Besides that little bit of drama, life has been pretty much the same-just work. Jason and I are enjoying some weekends together at home before spring arrives and we have plans every weekend! So New Year's Eve was Jason's 32nd Birthday and we had a fun night. We had a little cocktail hour and sang happy birthday before heading to downtown Columbus for the 1st annual ball drop. The ball drop wasn't very exciting, but I am so glad Columbus actually made an effort to do something and there were a lot of people out. Jason got kicked out of the bar which means it must have been a good night!

What a month! Well, I turned the big 24 this month and my sweet hubby gave a new digital camera so hopefully I will have some new pics up soon! Work kept me busy and the week before Christmas I went home with 103 fever and strepp (sp?) throat. I healed just in time to attend both a great Christmas shower for Kate Wallace and a fabulous dirty santa party at Tori's camphouse. I know I've said this before but I just have to say it again-I absolutely love my friends!! Then came Christmas Eve and I received the great news that one of my best friends, Suzy, had gotten engaged. Congratulations and Best Wishes to you both!!! I could hardly sleep that night, and I awoke bright and early Christmas Day. Jason and I had 3 Christmas mornings-one at the trailer fabulous, one with his parents, and then one with my parents. Santa was very good to us and gave us a Wii. It is safe to say that we are ADDICTED!! We also got new bedding and I got a much needed new cell phone. The festivities continued that evening with dinner at his mom's house with her family and then dinner at my cousin's house with my mom's entire family. We were exhausted! I think for me this has been one of the best Christmas seasons ever. I really soaked it all in and enjoyed every minute. God has blessed me with friends, family, co-workers, and a husband who all take excellent care of me. I am ready to tackle all that 2009 has in store for me!!! So tonight we had an early birthday celebration for Kate. She will be 24 on Monday, December 1st, but since she is slaving away at Ole Miss Law School we had her party a couple of days early. Time For An Update

Ok-Jason and I have been keeping busy and I just realized I was slacking on the whole blog thing. First, we had a great open house weekend at Pizazz! I had a really bad head cold but other than that it was busy and so much fun! The next weekend my sister participated in the Heritage Beauty Review. She did not make the top ten, but she looked absolutely beautiful and she had so much fun. Congrats to Most Beautiful Clare Wiygul! My mom had open house at her store, Three Sisters Antiques, Saturday and Sunday, and Saturday night Jason and I grilled out and watched the Dawgs die a horrible death in Tuscaloosa. My brother and his wife are expecting their second child, Paxton, any minute now so by my next post I will have pics of my new nephew!! Also, my brother just got promoted and after the first of the year they will be moving from Augusta, GA to somewhere in South Carolina. That's all for now! Have a Fabulous Weekend!!!

Halloween on Bourbon-What Could Be Better?

I just got home from a long but extremely fun weekend in New Orleans. As many of you may recall, Jason and I won this trip last Halloween when we dressed up as bride and groom zombies at Woody's. We stayed at St. Christopher's Best Western on Magazine Street, and it was so nice. Our room had really old brick walls, and we were within walking distance to the Quarter and Harrah's (where my mom and aunt spent most of their time). After eating dinner at Petunia's Thursday night, Jason and I headed to House of Shock-one of the top ten haunted houses in the country. Jason paid for us to be VIP's so we went straight to the front of the line. Before letting you in, some freak gets up on stage and drives nails and screws into his body and guess who got called up on stage to assist-yours truly! I had to staple this guy's shirt to his body, all the while cursing Jason. Anyways, after about a 20 minute show, they let you in. It was Fabulous!! I mean I was really scared and they kept touching me and grabbing my hair, but that's all a part of it and I was so glad I let Jason talk me into going! Friday we shopped all day and then headed back to get ready for the big night. I was Dolly Parton and my mom and aunt were punk rockers. Jason decided to be stupid and not dress up. I have been to Mardi Gras and Halloween in New Orleans before, but I do not think I have ever seen it this crowded! Bourbon Street was shoulder to shoulder people, and there was a big Halloween parade similar to the Mardi Gras parades. The costumes were great-it was worth going just to see what everyone else came up with! Saturday we slept in, ate beignets(sp?) at Cafe DeMonde, and went on an afternoon ride on the Steamboat Natchez. All in all the trip was a success, but I am glad to be back
